Model Name: Navigator Model Reference: C62 Designer: Sal Glesser MSRP: $74.95 Description: The second of the experimental SKU knives to come out from Spyderco, this one was released as a CX02. I actually owned one of these experimental folders which came in the unmarked blue boxes that Spyderco used for a time there. This knife was released both in Almite coated aluminum and G-10. The knife was released as the Navigator II with the C93 SKU.
Model Name: Pegasus Model Reference: C61 Designer: Sal Glesser MSRP: $69.95 (Experimental), $79.95 Description: The Pegasus was designed for Airline travel, similar to the Co-Pilot, and was only made for a couple years, as demand was not very great for this model.
Model Name: Massad Ayoob Model Reference: C60 Designer: Massad Ayoob MSRP: $165.95 Description: Massad Ayoob is a world reknown Firearms and Self-Defense instructor, and has designed a number of knives in the past, all with a similar theme in the styling. The Ayoob C60 is a very solid, well-made knife from Spyderco that has some serious self-defense capabtilities, sporting that unique shape that directs the knife wherever you point your wrist.
Model Name: Shabaria Model Reference: C59 Designer: Eduard Bradichansky MSRP: $143.95, $259.95 (CF) Description: In my opinion, one of the coolest Spyderco knives ever made, and a shame I sold mine. The Edward Bradichansky was a strange knife for Spyderco at the time, and while not the most comfortable knife, was a very interesting design.
Model Name: JD Smith Model Reference: C58 Designer: JD Smith MSRP: $146.95 (Micarta), 219.95 (G-10) Description: This model was custom designed by ABS Mastersmith J.D. Smith, and was produced in extremely limited numbers. It was subsequently re-released in an updated version in 2009 with Foliage Green G-10 and a full flat grind.
Model Name: D’Alton Holder Toad Model Reference: C57 Designer: D’Alton Holder MSRP: $84.95 Description: The Toad C57 is a very unique and small knife designed by master knifemaker D’Alton Holder for Spyderco. The Toad is another of Spyderco’s rare collaboration models that is not easily found on the secondary market as they are hoarded by collectors.
Model Name: Tim Zowada Model Reference: C56 Designer: Tim Zowada MSRP: $165.95 (Micarta), $219.95 (CF) Description: Tim Zowada is an American Knifemaker from Michigan. While not as well-as many of the other makers Spyderco has collaborated with, Zowada makes his own Damascus and believes in sole authorship knives, leaving no part of the construction of his knives to outside sources. He provides a lot of damascus and meteorite to other custom makers as well. In 2010 a sprint run of Carbon Fiber versions was made.
Model Name: Starmate Model Reference: C55 Designer: Bob Terzuola MSRP: $156.95 Description: A very popular and sought-after discontinued model designed by master knifemaker Bob Terzuola. The knife has a G-10 handle with a medalion inlay. The construction of the knife is very similar to the Spyderco Military.
Model Name: Calypso Model Reference: C54 Designer: Sal Glesser MSRP: $134.95 Description: The Calypso is the larger brother of the Calypso Jr., and is one of the more rare Spydercos on the market. The knife was only produced in one run as it was not as popular as they hoped, making it a sprint run of an entire design. The knife has never been re-released.
Model Name: Peter Herbst Model Reference: C53 Designer: Peter Herbst MSRP: $179.95 (Ti), $174.95 (Al) Description: The first knife that Spyderco has ever made in Germany, and designed by German knifemaker Peter Herbst. This knife was made in Titanium until 2000, after which it was made in Aluminum, without the Blue annodizing on the handles.
