Designed by Sal Glesser’s son, Eric Glesser, the Manix and Manix 83mm is one of Spyderco’s most popular high-performance knives. In 2009, the Manix 83mm was re-released with 154CM blade that is hollow ground, which is slightly longer than the previous CPM-S30V blade. 2010 Saw the release of a plain edge Black Coated model.

The knives draw upon the rich history of Fox Cutlery in Italy, combined with Spyderco’s influenced ergonomics. The Knives are made in Italy in their Maniago Factory.
Model Name: Poliwog Model Reference: C98 Designer: MSRP: $151.95 (SS), $184.95 (G-10) Description: The Poliwog is another of Eric Glesser’s designed-in-the-dark creations that puts ergonomics ahead of everything else. The knife is a fantastic cutter and packs a ton of cutter power in a sub-3″ blade. The knife was made in Stainless steel from 2004-2008 and then replaced with a G-10 model in 2009.
Model Name: Viele II Model Reference: C97 Designer: Howard Viele MSRP: $169.95 Description: The Viele II was introduced as a smaller version of the Viele C42 that was discontinued in 2002. This new Viele is very similar in design, but has a sub 3″ blade. The Viele II was discontinued in 2006. This Viele has an interesting configuration in that the back scale is G-10 while the front scale is Micarta.

The knife is designed by Ken Onion with Sal Glesser contributing to the Ergonomics and handle design.
Model Name: Manix, Manix2 XL Model Reference: C95 Designer: Sal Glesser MSRP: $199.95 Description: The Manix was designed to be a top-quality knife with a very high-rated lock strength. No cost was spared when designing this knife, and likely was only the price it was because there were no design royalties. The knife was released as a sprint run in 2008 with foliage green g-10 after production stopped in 2007.
The C95 model was re-released in late 2011 as the Manix2 XL, with the extra large blade and a Ball Bearing lock instead of the Compression Lock of the original Manix.
