Model Name: Brad Southard Folder Model Reference: C156 Designer: Brad Southard MSRP: $399.95 Description: The Brad Southard Folder is Spyderco’s first flipper design featuring a captive ball-bearing pivot mechanism and fancy new CTS 204P steel. The knife has a titanium framelock slab side and a G-10 side, with a cool matching G-10 lock overtravel stopper as well. Overall a very nice knife, made in Taiwan like most of the Spyderco knives are now.
Model Name: Nilakka Model Reference: C164 Designer: Pekka Tuominen MSRP: $309.95 Description: The Nilakka is a folding Puukko designer by award-winning Finnish knifemaker Pekke Tuominen. Tuominen is a Master Bladesmith and one of only 7 knifemakers certified by the Finnish Ministry of Education. The design differs from traditional puukko knives in that the grind is full flat, but it does have the zero-ground edge, which is a trademark puukko trait. Overall a very awesome looking knife from Spyderco.

This retains much of the functionality of the original, with higher end G-10 Handles and an interesting CTS-BD1 Steel blade, which not the strongest performer for edge retention. Given this is a self-defense knife that one would unlikely be using day-in-day-out, maybe that’s a moot point.

Based largely on the groundbreaking research of close-combat icon Michael Echanis, the original Warrior was a radical design intended primarily for use with reverse-grip tactics inspired by the Korean martial art of HwaRangDo. Produced in limited quantities by the late Al Mar and later resurrected by the martial artist Bob Taylor and Echanis contemporary Randy Wanner, it is one of the most coveted combat knives ever made.”

The knife is designed as a carry knife for Danes as their laws prohibit both locking knives and one-handed openers.
Model Name: Air Model Reference: C159 Designer: Gayle Bradley MSRP: $239.95 Description: Gayle Bradley’s Air from Spyderco is designed to be ultra lightweight and a gentleman’s folder. All premium parts like carbon fiber and titanium liners along with CPM-M4 steel combine to make one serious high-tech knife. From Spyderco: “The Air is meticulously manufactured from premium materials that literally allow it to live up to its name. Its handle is built on a foundation of full-length titanium liners that also support the structure of its Walker LinerLock mechanism.” The Air does not have a pocket clip.

Those of you that know the Delica know its quite a compact little knife, so this Lil Matriarch will also be quite the little sickle. Features a similar S-shaped hollow ground VG-10 Steel blade as its older brother.
Model Name: Manbug Model Reference: M Designer: Sal Glesser MSRP: $79.95 Description: Spyderco’s newest keychain knife, the manbug, features VG-10 or some models now with killer ZDP-189 steel and is a neat little folder that you folks with Jesters and Ladybugs can now upgrade to. The designation for the Manbug knives is M, similar to how Jesters were J and Ladybugs L.
Model Name: Techno Model Reference: C158 Designer: Marcin Slysz MSRP: $299.95 Description: Spyderco’s first collaboration with Marcin Slysz is the Techno Folder, featuring Spyderco’s Little Big Knife proportioning and a solid Reeve Integral Lock. This is one of my favourite knives as of late from Spyderco and one will definately need to be added to my collection. The knife features high-tech CPM XHP Carpenter’s steel which is similar to Powdered D2 with higher stainless properties.
Model Name: Tuff Model Reference: C151 Designer: Ed Schempp MSRP: $399.95 Description: Another unique design from knifemaker Ed Schempp. The Tuff features a bulletproof Chris Reeve Titanium Integral Lock on one side and G-10 handle on the other. Blade steel is a very large 3.75″, made from impressive CPM-3V Steel, and the knife is interestingly made in Taiwan.
Model Name: Puukko Model Reference: FB28 Designer: Pekka Tuominen MSRP: $349.95 Description: The Spyderco Puukko is a classically designed Puukko knife, which is a Finnish utility knife, “developed for life in forested, outdoor environments where woodworking, hunting and fishing are daily chores”. Beautifully crafted piece here by Spyderco, with a mini Spydie hole to retain its Spyderco Heritage.
Model Name: LionSpy Model Reference: C157 Designer: Lion Steel Collaboration MSRP: $499.95 Description: The Spyderco C157 LionSpy is a collaboration with Lion Steel knives from Maniago, Italy based on their Titanium SR-1 Monoblock Titanium Framed Knife. The LionSpy uses a combination of G-10 and Titanium with the same Reeve Integral Lock that the SR-1 uses. Also used in the design is a Patented RotoBlock system designed by Gianni Pauletta. It acts as a lockbar stop to prevent overtravel and when the knife is open can be rotated to lock the lockbar in place so that it does not accidently disengage. Overall, one of the most impressive knives from Spyderco to date, and the MSRP definately supports that as well!
Model Name: Des Horn Model Reference: C153 Designer: Des Horn MSRP: $189.95 Description: Designed as a custom collaboration with South African knifemaker Des Horn (no relation to Jess Horn), the Des Horn C153 is a sleek, G-10 handled folder with sweeping machined grooves on the handle and the blade.
Model Name: Chaparral Model Reference: C152 Designer: Sal Glesser MSRP: $174.95, $319.95 (Ti) Description: The Chaparral is Spyderco’s latest foray in the Gent’s knife arena. There are many fancy handle materials planned for future Chaparral models and the knife is one of the thinnest CLIPIT knives from Spyderco yet. The knife feature a mid lockback, which does not have the Boye Dent.
Model Name: Junior Model Reference: C150 Designer: Alexandru Diaconescu (DiAlex) MSRP: $219.95 Description: The second design by Alexandru Diaconescu, Spyderco’s Romanian Technical Manager, after designing the Adventura. The design spawns from his requirement to give his son a pocketknife that was both safe and comfortable for his smaller hands.
